State of Mississippi

My magnolia artwork was selected as the centerpiece of Mississippi's new state flag. The flag was approved by voters on Election Day, and on January 5, 2021, the state legislature passed House Bill 1 ratifying the flag as law. On January 11, 2011, Governor Tate Reeves signed the bill.
The magnolia was part of my original flag submission. I called it the "New Century" flag. I made the center carpels more detailed in my version. Clay Moss, the vexillologist who advised the flag commission, changed them into a solid element so it's more visible from a distance.
